Trevi Fontana

World famous for it’s beauty and legend, the fountain sits in the center of Rome and is visited by hundreds of people daily.

According to legend, you can make wishes based on the fountain’s history. The first wish to return to Rome. The second, to find true love. The third, to marry said true love. Pretty sure it is heavily implied that the true love will be Italian. But, who am I to say for sure? I mean if you are meeting true love in Italy…chances are that they are going to be Italian.

There apparantly is also a specific way to toss the coin. You throw it over your left shoulder with your right hand. I suspect this goes with many Italian traditions that include the dominant hand vs non dominant hand, tossing stuff over your shoulder, and making wishes upon things like coins and salt etc. Also, don’t forget to toss it over your shoulder into the fountain with your back facing the statues. Kind of like when you throw salt behind your back to ward off evil.

So if you like me, love mystery and architecture go to the Trevi fonatana and make that wish. Have you moment. Be the main character and let your life evolve into something more special and meaningful than ever. Make the new beginning, new promise to be your best self. I would go and make a wish every year if I could. However I want to see the world as a whole, but I thank Italy for its time accommodating me. I wish every year could be as good as the moment I tossed the coin into the fountain on that day that began my journey. I will always remeber these times as blissful and peaceful. I will look back with fondness and recall the goods days traveling and seeing the world. I will not regret it and am glad it happened.

Lets remember to be out best selves and have a blessed day.

  1. I look forward to seeing this beautiful fountain and many other sites of Italy. My grandparents were natives and in my search for my roots I am sure to connect with their spirits and love of everything Italiana. Of course if its return to Rome this will be my first adventures. I already have my true love and we’ve been married going on 37 years. So I guess I will wish for something special and hope that I am blessed with the fountain’s sense for true love to last forever.
