UV Sanitized Water

What is UV sanitisation?

You can use light to sanitize things like water, surfaces, and much more. Hospitals and labs use this to sanitize instruments and areas. I had bought a sanitizer that hasn’t had much use since covid rates declined in my area. Originally when I bought it, I obsessively sanitized my phone everytime I came home from being out. I did this even if I was the only one to use it and it never left my purse. Maybe this was a bit extreme or a touch of OCD. Whatever you want to call it, I may have a new use now.

So why sanitize water?

Well, water sometimes sits in tanks, sits in pipes, or worse sits stagnant in water bottles. So, maybe it would be nice to have some cleaner water to drink and wash my face with. Since I spend hundreds of dollars on my skincare prouducts, why not wash with sanitized water? After all, we already know that bacteria can cause breakouts of acne. Although, bacteria is usually low enough level that it is destoryed in your stomach, the same isn’t usually said for our faces. Our skin is not nearly as acidic. I mean can you imagine…no better not.

A quick UV sanitization for your daily water bottle or a water bottle you use to wash your face could prevent you from getting as sick. Frankly, I am tired of being sick and I would like a little clearer skin. Maybe I won’t need to spend hundreds on expensive products anymore…

Do you need to clean with UV light?

Technically speaking, you should only have to sanitize an item after you enter back into your house, or if you open the bottle, depending on the use. For example, your phone doesn’t need to be cleaned each use. You have a certain amount of normal, or familiar, bacteria in your home. So when you enter into your home, you could sanitize your phone or keys and they should be fine to be in your home without worry of cleaning them again. However, a water bottle would be contaiminated when it is opened. So if you are using it to drink you can sanitize it once to get any bacteria from your pipes of from being unsued too long. If you are using it to wash your face, ideally you would use it immediately after you open the water bottle after it was cleaned. Since there is still bacteria in the air. However, if you are in your home you should be used to the bacteria already and a few seconds won’t change anything.

Probably the best uses for UV sanitisation are water that you leave in a pitcher, or retrieve from a tank, or simply cleaning skincare applicators or cell phones/keys. Again you don’t need to buy a whole UV sanitiser for this, you can buy bottled water or simply invest in a decent filter, but if you are like me and bought one might as well try it.
