Can you create generational wealth?

For those who are unlucky and not born into generational wealth, I know it sucks right, can we create it ourselves?

Maybe…it can be done although is obviously much more challenging than just being born into it and managing said wealth. But, there are options for those who want to leave behind a legacy for their children and future generations.

The easiest options are to use your retirement savings in perpetuities for future generations. Though, this comes at a cost and can be little money if you don’t have a large amount saved already.

Now, if you have propety you can leave to your children, this is a big first step. It may be more beneficial to have the house as a rental so that they can receive a monthly payment assuming the debt is fully paid off. This will require more fees and costs, but will allow them to depend less on the income from the jobs giving them more oppertunity to add to their own retirement savings and likewise.

In generation zero, the first person trying to create the cycle of generational wealth through the standard means, you will not be able to leave more than a helping hand. However, if they also follow the steps needed they will have a step ahead in life from the start allowing them to further their options for a better future. If you open a business or start these techinques much younger than the age you start having kids, you can even create the options now and skip one generation. It just depends on how you can afford to set aside this wealth for yourself and your family.

The basic steps are to build up a level of investments to assist in your retirement and the lives of your children. These are things like, properties, perpetuities, and other policies like life insurance and otherwise.

You can typically meet with your bank and understand the steps to take in your personal situation for free. This is one benefits your bank should offer and you can schedule semiannually to monitor your progess towards your financial goals. If you need more assistance you can pay for finance classes, or even a financial advisor as you feel you need.
